About Us...
YouThrive Academy is an alternative education provision, offering a trauma-informed, flexible, and person-centred learning environment for children who are disengaged from mainstream education or not in education, employment, or training. Learners are supported to gain confidence, skills and achieve qualifications.
Meet Our Head Teacher - Adam Hurst
I’m Adam Hurst, founder and Head Teacher of YouThrive Academy, and I’m passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people—especially those who have experienced disadvantage, trauma, or disrupted education.
As a teacher of trauma, with a First-Class Honours degree in Education and over seven years’ experience in the classroom—including two as Head of Year and a safeguarding lead—I believe every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, relational practice, and I’m committed to helping learners build confidence, independence, and self-worth.

Our Team...
At YouThrive Academy, our team brings a wealth of experience in supporting children and young people with diverse and complex needs. This includes children with Special Educational Needs (SEND), Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), those with Social, Emotional and Mental health (SEMH) needs and children with mild to moderate learning difficulties, as well as those affected by trauma or disrupted education. We combine academic support with emotional understanding, using a trauma-informed, person-centred approach that meets learners where they are.
Through trust, consistency, and meaningful relationships, we create a safe and empowering environment where every young person has the chance to thrive—in education and in life.
